A federal program to prescreen passengers takes off nationally this July, giving some shorter security lines during the summer of air travel snarls.
Airports in Little Rock, Ark., Albany and Westchester, N.Y. will join five others as part of Transportation Security Administration Registered initiative. How it works: A clear background check pairs with biometric data -- finger prints and iris scans -- to funnel participants into separate lanes with kiosks activated by special identity cards.
