Shelby County Corrections Officer Adam Smith said, “To get fingerprints on Livescan, we use a piece of equipment called Identix. The fingers are sprayed with water which substitutes for the ink. Once fingerprints are taken, they go to the State police in Joilet. They are kept on file there and are available nationwide. With this system, we get a score on each print. Anything above 75% is considered a good print.”
